What makes you smile? What makes you feel happy?

Perhaps it’s something as simple as seeing a picture of a smiling cat.
Or maybe it takes a bit more effort.
But, at the end of the day, isn’t that what we are all striving for: To Be Happy?

So just what does “enlightenment” mean?

What images come to mind when you think of an enlightened person?

Now think back on the image you have of an enlightened person. Is that image congruent with you, your life, or a way you can see yourself? If so, wonderful. If not, perhaps you could revisit that image. Why? If the image of an “enlightened” person in your mind is so far off of who you are, your chances of moving along the path to your ultimate goal of enlightenment are slim.

Being enlightened, some have said, means simply being. Being simply. A deep sense of happiness naturally flows through the enlightened who walk among us. No need to show, posture or demonstrate. Enlightenment means, perhaps, being happy in all situations. A deep connection with the workings of the universe provide an understanding. A kind of power. It is a power that allows the enlightened ones to walk among us, living in this world, being of this world, but somehow creating space around themselves that allows for the beauty of the enlightened state to exist, no matter the external circumstance.
